Ligorius Kracinovsky, SCN


Ligorius Kracinovsky, SCN, 91, died Saturday, April 30, 2011, at Vincentian Nursing Home in Pittsburgh, Pa. She entered the Vincentian Sisters of Charity from Holy Trinity Parish, Duquesne, Pa., in 1934.

Sister Ligorius received both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Education from Duquesne University and studied at the University of Dayton, Ohio and Brock University in Canada. Sister taught in the Pittsburgh, Greensburg and Johnstown, dioceses in Pennsylvania; in the Diocese of Youngstown, Ohio; in the Diocese of Mobile, Alabama, and in the Diocese of St. Catherine, Ontario, Canada. She also served as Principal in the Pittsburgh schools. Her last 22 years were spent ministering at the Vincentian Nursing Home.

Sister Ligorius is survived by one sister, Agnes (Richard) Kosko of Rochester, N.Y.; a brother Bernard of Palm Coast, Fla.; a brother-in-law, Joseph Salay of West Mifflin, Pa.; numerous nieces, nephews, and her Sisters in the Community. Sister was preceded in death by her parents Stephen and Elizabeth; her sisters, Ann Palsha, Helen Mizik, Mary Molanich, Irene Salay, and a brother John.

Marina Martin, SCN


Marina Martin, SCN, 93, a native of Sedalia, Mo., died at Nazareth Home in Louisville, Ky., on April 5, 2011. She had been a Sister of Charity of Nazareth for 72 years.

Sister Marina served in the apostolate of education as music and classroom teacher in Tennessee, Ohio and Kentucky. In Louisville, Sister taught at Holy Family School. She was a student in higher education at Spalding College, now Spalding University, from 1967-69. Sister Marina served at Spalding College as an office assistant from 1970-71. Sister served as secretary at Bethlehem High School in Bardstown, Ky., from 1971-83. Sister Marina later served at Nazareth Montessori and Catherine Spalding Center, Nazareth.

Sister Marina is survived by her religious Community.
